THE BLESSINGS OF BOUNTIFULNESS

IN THE BEGINNING…THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, AUGUST 14, 2011
THE BLESSINGS OF BOUNTIFULNESS
“He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor” (Proverbs 22).
When you see a need, do you respond?  We are told in Proverbs 22:9 that if you have a bountiful eye you will be blessed.  The story of the Good Samaritan is an example of the bountiful eye.  The Good Samaritan saw the need of the traveler and gave of his time and his resources to meet the need (read Luke 10:29-36).  In 2 Corinthians 9:6, 7 we read:   But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.  Our attitude toward the work of God and the needs around us should be met willingly, cheerfully and immediately.
Today, let us pray for a generous heart and nature.  Let us see the needs and cheerfully meet them for the glory of God.
