NURSING
Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. Isaiah 60:4
The church of God is to nurse the saints of God. Full of the spirit of Jesus Christ, the church must be full of the glory of God, the knowledge of God, the wisdom of God and the power of God-- then pour out. The church is to pour out this glory, knowledge, wisdom and power through the fivefold ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. These are to minister to the saints: “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:11, 12,13).
When I think of nursing I think of the act of bringing to health and healing. And just as the church must nurse, the saint of God must be nursed, must latch on, and must milk out until satisfied and satiated with God’s abundance. Today, let us nurse and be nursed.
