GET THEE BEHIND ME
But when he had
turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee
behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the
things that be of men. Mark 8:33
Jesus told one of his disciples to get behind him….and
called him Satan. But it was not the
person of Peter that Jesus was rebuking, but the spirit in Peter. Peter’s heart and mind and mouth were feeling,
thinking and speaking the things of the world.
Peter had not yet had the needed revelation that would allow him to see
the full purpose of God. As Christians
we must be careful to distance ourselves from a worldly mindset: “Because the
carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can be” (Romans 8:7).
Today, tell Satan to get behind you!
