THE PLUMBLINE AND THE RULER

IN THE BEGINNING…THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2012
THE PLUMBLINE AND THE RULER

Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.   Amos 7:7

Every work constructed for the glory of God must be in-line, upright, sturdy, stable and able to withstand the storms. We are a people who follow the rule of God; we are led by the Spirit of God who leads in the way of righteousness.  As long as we continue to walk in the way of the Lord, waiting at our post for His word and His command, we shall prosper and have good success.  Every ruler of God’s people must be measured and found solid, upright, able and ready to be established.
God’s purpose has always been to design an upright people, measured by the rule of righteousness.  In the New Testament the Law (of righteousness) has been written in our hearts. “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away” (Hebrews 8:10-13). "For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second" (Hebrews8:7).

Today, let us stand “upright” and see the salvation of God.
