CALLED, ELECT AND CHOSEN

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 30, 2014

CALLED, ELECT AND CHOSEN

 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me. I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. ISAIAH 45:4-6

WE SHALL NOT NEGLECT SO GREAT SALVATION

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 29, 2014

WE SHALL NOT NEGLECT SO GREAT SALVATION

  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; HEBREWS 2:3

What will come on us, if we do not give our minds to such a great salvation? a salvation of which our fathers first had knowledge through the words of the Lord, and which was made certain to us by those to whom his words came; HEBREWS 2:3

THERE FAILED NOT OUGHT:GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES!

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 29, 2014

THERE FAILED NOT OUGHT: GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES!

  There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass. JOSHUA 21:45

 So the LORD kept the promise that he had made to the Israelites and gave the people all the land that he had promised. The people took the land and lived there.
  And the LORD allowed them to have peace on all sides of their land, just as he had promised their ancestors. None of their enemies defeated them. The LORD allowed the Israelites to defeat every enemy.
  The LORD kept every promise that he made to the Israelites. There were no promises that he failed to keep. Every promise came true. JOSHUA 21:43-45 ERV

  The Lord kept faith with the house of Israel about all the good which he said he would do for them, and all his words came true. JOSHUA 21:45 BBE (BIBLE IN BASIC ENGLISH)

HOW GREAT A SALVATION

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 29, 2014

HOW GREAT A SALVATION

 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.  I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. ISAIAH 42:1-9

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
  For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: HEBREWS 2:1-7

THE DAY STAR IS SHINING

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 28, 2014

THE DAY STAR IS SHINING

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 PETER 1:19-21

PREACHING THE CROSS

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 27, 2014

PREACHING THE CROSS

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

EXPECTING IN HIS TIME AND SEASON

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 23, 2014

EXPECTING IN HIS TIME AND SEASON

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

MEDITATIONS ON GOD

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONS FOR TODAY, JUNE 20, 2014

MEDITATIONS ON GOD

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. PSALM 86:15

 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. PSALM 145:8

And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
 EXODUS 34:6,7

GOD IS LORD OF HEAVEN AND EARTH

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 20, 2014

GOD IS LORD OF HEAVEN AND EARTH

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
  Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
  Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
  Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
ACTS 17:24-31

THE CHILDREN OF THE PROMISE

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 18, 2014
CHILDREN OF THE PROMISE

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

WE ARE OF GOD, BORN OF LOVE

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 4, 2014

WE ARE OF GOD, BORN OF LOVE

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. I JOHN 4:6

  Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

I JOHN 5:1-4

WE HAVE KNOWN AND BELIEVED THIS LOVE

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 3, 2014

WE HAVE KNOWN AND BELIEVED THIS LOVE

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
I JOHN 4:16,17

LIVING LOVE THROUGH HIM

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 2, 2014

LIVING LOVE THROUGH HIM

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. I JOHN 4:7-10

ALTOGETHER LOVELY

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 2, 2014

ALTOGETHER LOVELY

 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.
 What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?
 My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.  His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as a raven.  His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set. His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh. His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl: his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.
His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem. SONG OF SOLOMON 5:8-16

PERFECTED LOVE

IN THE BEGINNING...THE WORD
DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, JUNE 2, 2O14

PERFECTED LOVE

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. I JOHN 4:11-13
