DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TODAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2013
DEPART FROM ME, YE THAT WORK INIQUITY
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23
What is it about the "wonder working," "prophesying," "deliverance ministry" that comes under the judgement of the LORD? In these verses in Matthew, the problem is clear. "Have WE not...?" the false prophets ask. They did their wonderful works in and through their own power, deceiving others and deceiving themselves. How could they deceive themselves? I think the show was so amazing, the costumes so incredible, the results so believable that they thought their works were God's works. They spent more time recreating themselves then humbling themselves; the Holy Spirit can only operate through a broken vessel.
Have you seen the cape they may throw on, or the props they may use? Have you seen the light show, or the music that works wonders? It is all very captivating--unfortunately. What a rude awakening these workers of iniquity will have when they come face to face with the true and living God.

It is a perfect time to embrace Grace. Let us be determined to seek Christ Jesus and celebrate, study, accept His perfect work of redemption on the cross of Calvary. Let us allow His resurrection life to live within us as the Holy Spirit prepares us for good works and eternal life with God.
Today, let us do the will of the Father.
